“Spirit Divine, Attend Our Prayers”

GTG #407

Prayer of Adoration (David)

Almighty and gracious God, it is a privilege to worship you this

day in this community of saints. May our praise be joyful, may our hearts

be turned toward you, and may our souls be quenched with the waters

of your Word. We give you all glory and praise and gratitude

this day and forever.                 Amen.

Call to Confession (Charley)

The grace of God overflows for us through Christ Jesus

who came into the world to save sinners.

Confession

Trusting in God's Grace

and knowing that He forgives us,

let us confess our sin.

(Let’s read together.)

Merciful God,

we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart and mind and strength. We have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.

In your mercy, forgive what we have been, help us amend what we are, and direct what we shall be, that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways to the glory of your holy name. Amen.

Please take a moment for your

Private Prayers of Personal Confession

Assurance of Pardon

The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting.

I declare to you, in the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.

Amen

Passing the Peace

Having been reconciled with God,

let’s be reconciled with each other. (All say)

The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ

be with you. And, also with you.

WORD

Prayer for Illumination (Jeri)

God, Source of all Light,

By your Word you give light to the soul.

pour out upon us the spirit of wisdom

and understanding that,

being taught by you in Holy Scripture,

our hearts and minds may be opened to know the things

that pertain to life and holiness,

through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

First Reading (Erik)

A reading from Acts 2:1-21

The Word of the Lord.      Thanks be to God.

Second Reading (Norma)

A responsive reading from Psalm 104:24-34, 35b

24 Lord, how manifold are your works!        In wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.

25 There is the sea, great and wide; creeping things innumerable are there, living things both small and great.

26 There go the ships and Leviathan that you formed to sport in it.

27 These all look to you to give them their food in due season;

28 when you give to them, they gather it up;

when you open your hand, they are filled with good things.

29 When you hide your face, they are dismayed;

when you take away their breath, they die and return to their dust.

30 When you send forth your spirit,[a] they are created, and you renew the face of the ground.

31 May the glory of the Lord endure forever;
    may the Lord rejoice in his works—   32 who looks on the earth and it trembles,

who touches the mountains and they smoke.

33 I will sing to the Lord as long as I live;

I will sing praise to my God while I have being.

34 May my meditation be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the Lord.

35Bless the Lord, O my soul. Praise the Lord!

The Word of the Lord.                Thanks be to God.
